One of our customers have had a site written for them in magento and their developer is trying to automate the data upload process but hasn't worked with the coding of sites so relies on magento.

They use our data feed to get a csv file and then have to manually upload (i haven't used magento, i stupidly reinvent the wheel!!)

Is there a way to automate magento so it automatically picks up a file, I have a downloader tool that will stick the file right on the ftp server on a timely basis, but need to work out if there is a way for magento to import, as much as i want to get involved I can only go so far without getting blame for data issues!!!

If anyone has worked with magento, the importer or automation it would be a great help for me with any tips.

If a webpage can be called with switches to import a file name/location I can add that feature to my downloader. (its been something i've been intent on doing anyway, this could be the kick up the bottom i need!!!)

Thank you in advance from a inexperienced magento outsider!!

:)
