I have 50 Mac's using Time Machine which we just set up, about half or so are producing answerable error messages throughout the day.
When I check it sure enough it failed, but go to work on it after hours and it shows that the last backup completed. It appears to be something to do with system activity during the day time backup process. Is there any way to reset the time process it uses maybe stop the business hour backups from occurring?

i do not think there is an easy Apple setting for that, but you should be able to do it via command line.
the utility TimeMachineScheduler might be of help: I have not used it but it is in my list of things to try.

another potentially helpful but not free utility is Power Manager
