Good afternoon all,

I have a few macs on 10.5, when these machines file a quark file on the server, they turn into Unix system files. This has caused problems for others trying to access these files. Most of the macs (on the same OS) can save to the server just fine. I have gone through all the differences that I can see in the machines that work and do not work but cannot find what is the answer. Wondering if anyone knew an answer for this. Thanks in advance.

'Unix system file' is a generic name given when the computer can't tell what type of file you have.

You need to explicitly tell your computers what type of file you have.

Save all your files with the proper filename extension. This would be .QXP for more recent releases of QuarkXPress and .QXD for older releases of QuarkXPress.

And those 'unix system files' are not lost or corrupted. Just rename those existing files with .QXP or .QXD at the end and they should open in QuarkXPress again.
