Hi,

I have created several macro’s in Goldmine, when I run them in the first instance to check that they are working correctly everything appears to be working as it should be. However if attempting to run the macro’s again on the same record the macro’s do other things which they have not been recorded to do. E.g opening the calendar, opening the create a new record screen, adding entries to the org tree etc when in fact they have only been recorded to attach entries into the Details tab of the record.

Also even when running the Macro’s on a fresh record they do not appear to be working correctly again screens are being opened and entries are being made in tabs which have not been recorded.

This is the first time I have attempted to create a Macro so I assume that I must be doing something incorrectly, although as mentioned above it is bizarre as whenever I first create the Macro and then run it to check it, there does not seem to be a problem, only subsequent Macro runs seem to incur problems.

Hi

When you are creating the macro are you recording it using the mouse or using keyboard shortcut keys? Using the mouse can often have unpredictable results. The best way to record macros is to work out the steps using keyboard shortcuts (where possible) then write them down, then record the macro.

So to add a new Details the steps would begin with

[ALT] + n
Then cursor keys to 'Add a Detail...' menu option
..

Then complete the fields for the required detail item.

Hope this help

Hi Rob,

I had in fact been using the mouse rather than the short cuts. One question after clicking on ALT + D to get to the Details screen, is there a command that gets the menu up? I would usually use the mouse for this by right clicking in the Details tab and selecting New from the drop down list.

Also I used the Goldmine Help function to see the shortcut commands, is there a list of these commands held anywhere else in Goldmine? Or is the list which appears in Help the complete command list?

Thanks

Hi Rob,

Thanks for that the Macro's now seem to be working as they should. However I have noticed that if the org tree is open on the record then when attempting to run the Marco the screen 'Find an org chart' opens and the Macro will not work. However once the org tree is closed the Macro works as it should. Do you know of any reason why the org tree would interfere with the Macro, we use the org tree all the time here so it will be more frustrating than anything, if we have to close the org tree every time before executing the Macro.

Cheers!!!

Hi Rob,

Ive just figured it out, by typing Control + Q at the start of recording the Macro has seemed to clear the problem, so please ignore my last question. Thanks
