macro triggered by row insertion

Hi everybody,
I was hoping somebody could help me with this.

I need a macro to run automatically every time that a new line is inserted on any of the sheet of a workbook (except one which is a summary).
I know it's possible to do it when opening or saving the spreadsheet but I have no idea how to do it when inserting a row (provided this is possible at all).

Apologies if it's a stupid question but I'm not very good at this!!

Hi,

Why are you using INSERT? Why not just enter new data at the bottom of yout table and sort into place. INSERT can cause problems if you are not careful.

What does the macro do?

hi skip thanks for replying

i'm basically setting up a template that will be used by a number of people

so i need the insert option because who will be using this spreadsheet should be able to insert rows anywhere in the document

the macro would be filling some of the fields in the newly inserted line

i'm looking for something similar to what Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range) would do, just with the insertion of a row instead of a selection change triggering the macro

does it make sense?

You still have net explained why adding data at the bottom of your table wold not work.

Properly structured tables can be SORTED into a desired order.
