Hi,

We often have to look at client reports (Impromptu v5 and v7) where auto retrieve of rows is enabled. This causes problems as we can rarely cancel report with ESC just to go straight to looking at query.

So I was wondering if the following things can be done in the macro langauge
a. Disable auto retrieve of rows in report
b. Choose a file name via a dialog box (as opposed to having to type it in)

Thanks in advance,

Ade

Ade,

A simpler solution would be to uncheck the "connect to the database" checkbox during the catalog open, then go to the Report | Query | Access menu tab and uncheck the "automatically retrieve data" in the Query Options groupbox. Then go to Catalog | Connect on the menu and you will be able to answer prompts, see the SQL query statement, without having the report automatically retrieve data, which can be difficult to escape from in certain types of reports. Just remember to not save the report to avoid having this be the default for the report later.

Hope this helps,
