macro, excel and sharepoint

Hi,

i have an excel file in sharepoint that is linked to a list. I created a VB Macro that runs everytime the excel file is opened. The problem is when I tested opening the file from Network Places >> 'myWebFolder', the file opens up in read-only mode. The macro fails to run because it has to do some writing to some of the excel worksheet cells. How can I get around this?
