I had to buy a new computer to replace a stolen laptop. The new machine has plenty of memory, but loads Macola extremely slowly. I turned off the XP firewall. Am running XP Pro.
Maybe a dump question, but what kind of LAN you run your new computer on? If you're running via 802.11g or b, then that's your problem there. Else, you might need a new server or faster LAN.
That fixed it. I connected via cat 5 cable and it works fine. Is there anyway to make a connection over a wireless access point run at a reasonable speed?
(I show a 54Mbps wireless connection. The wire LAN is 100 Mbps, but the wirelss is way more than twice as slow)
How many connections are you trying to run through the WAP? You might get some performance out of increasing the number of WAPS thus decreasing the number of persons feeding through that switch. In essence you are over subscribing the switch. You will pick up some performance but not a whole lot I would think.
WiFi is just not grown up enough for corporate use. (IMHO)
