OK - I'm trying to setup a test environment for some new modules that have been created for our Mexico plant's existing macola environment.

windows 2003sp1, SQL server 2000 sp3, macola progression 7.6.100ai - SQL.

Everything works fine on the server, client can connect with no problems. I have installed the macola client on 2 XPsp2 systems & both receive the following error when I log in with the default user supervisor.

SYS Error - Open Failed -SYSPASS.-Table not Found.

I have given all users full rights in Enterprise Mgr to the database, as well as at the directory level. M: is mapped to macapps. I did notice that when I installed either flexibility or extensibility something installed the macola70 outside the macapps share. Could this be my problem or is this how it is suppose to be?

I know nothing of Macola, didn't set it up in the Mexico facility, but was told 'it's no big deal to install'. I have no instructions on what to do, but have been able to email our exact support person in Mexico, but they do not respond fast enough for me. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks a ton

Is the Screens database attached to the SQL Server? This is where the syspass table resides and the Screens database must be attached for Macola to work.

Also, all users must have full rights to the Macola70 directory.

If you have the Macola 7.6.100 CD, the install instructions are on the CD. Lokk at the autorun menu and print out the instructions from Adobe.

Also, there is a Macola Business Partner in San Diego that specializes in Mexican maquiladora operations, primarily in the Tijuana/Ensenada area. This might be a good resource for you. Serious Accounting Software is the company name, I do not have a number or URL.

Ok - there is a screens database in Enterprise mgr with the proper rights for the supervisor. I didn't have full rights to the macola70 directory to all users, so I gave them that. But I'm still wondering if Macola70 should be in the macapps directory. I have m: mapped to macapps. In another post I noticed someone stated macapps shouldn't be mapped, but Macola70 in macapps should be mapped to M:. Please let me know if this is the case & how I can move the macola70 folder into macapps (what installed Macola70, how do I uninstall? ) Thanks

oh yeah, forgot to add. No instructions on the cd, only upgrade instructions available for existing setups. I got this burned copy from the Exact consultant, who is ignoring my pleas for some installation documents.

Look at the raw data in the COMPFILE_SQL table, and make sure that the drive letter indicated in the file is also M. There is a drive letter indication for each active module.

Also, if you have a login to the Macola customer portal, you can download these documents personally. Go to the support page, progression, reference library, and there they are.

If you do not have a customer portal username and password, call Exact directly and get one.

Yeah, that drive letter is in the raw data also. The problem with me calling Exact in the states is they do not support Mexico installs (which is what this license is). So I get no where with Exact US support. I just asked my Exact contact in Mexico to send me a customer portal number for the US side if possible so I can download this stuff.

I have to believe this is available for you. All the documents are they in both English and Spanish.

WELL, still not getting any help from Exact de Mexico. So I decided, lets start from scratch again.. Rebuilt the whole server with no problems, installed the client with no problems & now I get the following error after I log in as supervisor from the client..

MSL File Load Failed, error during MSL File Load for table [TWB-MACOLA].[SCREENS].[DBO].[SYSPASS_SQL]in Path D:\macapps\macsql\msl

Detail Error: The device is not ready.

Please verify that the MSL File exists and is valid.

Any ideas?

Belynda,

Macola HAS to be mapped to a drive letter. Within each company, there's a table COMPFILE_SQL which lets Macola know what modules you are using and what drive letter they are on. (Though part of that is somewhat mute with SQL). However, it needs a drive letter.

There's a file in the \macsql folder called prosql7.cfg. That file holds the path to the MSL folder. Verify that it's using the same drive letter and path that the Macola install is using and that's in the COMPFILE_SQL as well.

Don is right in saying that you should be able to log into the customer portal and access the support documents whether you are in the US, Mexico, Canada or anywhere else for that fact. As long as you are current on your software maintenance, you will have a login to the portal. If you don't, your reseller or Exact directly if necessary can get you one.

Macola IS mapped to m: on server & client. I checked the prosql7.cfg & it was not pointing to the mapped m:, it was pointing to the actual drive d:\macapps\macsql. I changed it to m:. So now the compfile_sql & prosql7.cfg both show m: & I'm still receiving the error.

just an fyi.. The client on the server works fine. It's just the external clients trying to connect.

1. When you installed the sql client did you install the Full client tools or connectivity only?

2. Have you tried logging into the trouble workstation as you or a sys admin? If so does that work? If so and the regular user can not then check out the registry permissions required for normal non-local admin users.

I installed the full client & I'm connecting via the admin account.

BUT I finally got through to my Macola rep & we got it figured out. Kevin was on the money with what he was asking about, however, I was thinking the prosql7 file had to have the same path as the clients, i.e.. m:\MACAPPS\macsql\msl. But the path in prosql7 must be just m:\macsql\msl. Once that was corrected, everything is coming up roses... so far.. Now to bring over our Mexico facilities data...
