Has anyone ever sucessfully integrated these packages? If so what was the level of integration?

I know that Goldrush exists for a Goldmine to Macola integration but I have a client using ACT! and I was curious if anyone has explored this area.

I don't know if this information is out of date, but I did an ACT/Macola integration for a customer a few years back. At that time, ACT had an ODBC driver setup to export ACT data that installs when you install ACT on the client. The catch is you must purchase a license from Borland and install the Borland DB engine for each client to enable read/write access to Act via ODBC, at a cost of about $40 per desktop.

After installing this stuff, you can use Flex or MS Access to code integration between the two. Flex is preferable, because you can use its event model to update ACT based on events that occur in Macola, such as creating a new customer. In the app I did, the customer wanted Act to display the Macola ARCUST sales summary info and also show what product categories the customer was buying. We installed ACT as a network app, configured ODBC and the BDE, and then used existing fields within ACT to display the required information, and updated those fields using a VB job that ran on the server at the end of the business day. You might check your ACT docs or help file under "ODBC" to see how the current version handles it.
