Machine locking in Citrix

We are using Citrix v8.0.24737.0 to run another application. A user's machine has been frequently locking. So far, there hasn't been a pattern as to what he is doing when it locks. We would just like to know how we can log out or end the program to unlock the machine. As you can tell, we are very new to Citrix, any help is greatly appreciated.

If you are talking about how to remotely kill the user's session, I usually go into the CMC (the last option on the menu bar on the right of the screen.)

Once in, I go to the left of the screen, go to SERVERS, then select the USERS tab.

Find the locked user and right-click on their name. Choose SESSION PROCESSES. You will find the name of the programs they are using, right-click on it and select TERMINATE.

There is probably an easier way to do it, so I'll be watching your thread to learn with you.

Terminate process, yes, if you cannot log them out.

Find which server they are on then click on the server(left hand pane) find user in users tab, and then right click and log the user off.

I think you should be trying to find out what is happening to freeze the session.

The user should also be abpe to do that.

Bottom right hand corner of their screen should be a ICA icon. Right click and navigate to open connection centre and then log off. Tho this might not work if the client has totally frozen[wink]

We, unfortunately, do not have access to the server, unless we go to our server folks each time. So, I was looking to see if the user could get themselves unlocked. However, we have tried Scott's solution of trying to simply log off and have also tried the disconnect, neither worked. He even did a hard shutdown of the machine and it was still locked when he came back up. The user is looking to see what makes it lock if it happens again. But, in the mean time is there any way the user can get out of this predicament? Thanks for all the rapid responses!

So you don't have the CMC available to you ?

Well, I'm assuming the CMC is the Citrix Management Console (or something of the sort) and if that is found on the server, then no, we do not have direct access to it. We would have to have our server folks access it each time the user's machine locked. I'm just looking to see if anyone knows of any trick for the user to unlock himself from his end beyond what we have already tried.

Matt

Maybe I should change my name to CitrixTard!

You can install the CMC on your own PC, it does not necedsarrliy have to run from a server
