My Macbook has a mini-DVI output that I connect to my TV computer input using an Apple mini-DVI to VGA adapter cable. This indicates to me that the mini-DVI output signal is analog (DVI-A).
The experts at the Apple store say that the mini-DVI output is also digital (DVI-D) but Apple doesn't sell an adapter cable to allow you to plug into a DVI or HDMI input. They say 3rd party suppliers do sell these adapter cables.
Can this mini-DVI output really drive a digital input such as HDMI? Does anyone understand what is going on here?
