MAC users/network problems

We have several MAC users (G4), they connect to a Cisco 2948 switch, speed and duplex are hard set to 100/full, users see intermittent network problems, get disconnected, pings lose packets, anyone seen this before?
Any offers, MTU size maybe?..how can I set this on the G4?

<sigh> when I point out incompatable switches, Cisco is always my example. When I point out incompatible NICs Apples are my examples.

Apple has a MacOS 9 speed/duplex tool for some NICs but not G4s

You do not mention which OS. I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

It's OS 9, speed and duplex is already hard set on both ends.
