Greeting all,
Scenario: I have a SMC Wire router, and it is connected with 4 client PCs.
Background: MAC address is the unique number assigned to NIC(Network Interface Card)by the NIC manufacture.
Problem: The router works as a DHCP server and supposed to assign unique(& dynamic) IP address to each PC, but about 30 IP addresses are assigned to a particular PC. This PC has MAC of 00-00-00-00-00-00.
Troubleshooting: I wanted to know why this happened, so I checked SysInfo to verify the MAC, still same. I checked online forum for "BIOS killed MAC address", no luck. I know how to change the MAC in registry, but what I need to know is why so many IPs are assigned to the "invalid" MAC address. Thanks for reading and help if possible.
