Help!
Office is converting from Mac to PC :(. Need to convert my Pagemaker Files from the Mac to PC. Currently, I have 7.0 version on both platforms. I cannot open the Mac 7.0 files when I bring them over to the PC. Suggestions? Also, lots of files on the Mac are 6.0 or 6.5 version. Do I need to update these to 7.0 before I can bring them over to the PC?
Thanks!

1. If you have V7 on the Mac, make sure all your legacy files are in that version before you try and open them in V7 on the PC. Changing platforms as well as versions is asking TOO much!

2. All PM files to be opened on the PC must have the appropriate file extension at the end of the file name. For V7 files, this is yourfile.pmd

Good luck (you'll love working on a PC).

Further info on Eggles first tip...

Adobe had a cross-platform converter on their download web page. I used this back with v6.5 to import v5 and v6 docs from another platform. I do not know if it has been updated for PM7. This converter is required if the PM docs are from different versions. If the docs were created by the same version, they should float from platform to platform with little hassle.

You may be fine with v7 and v6.5 as I have a hunch the file format is really the same.

Fonts are the only thing that will not easily translate without additional software.

I happen to be stuck with the same issue. We change all the file types to .pmd and added ATM 4.0 to the PC's. The text transfers fine however, the graphics do not come along.

If the graphics were linked rather than embedded in the PM file (as they should be) then the graphic files will also have to be transferred to the PC, not just the PM doc. You may have to manually relink the first graphic in a PM file, but if you put them all in the same folder (for each PM file) then the rest should re-establish their link OK.
