Hi
We are looking to buy some MAC kit for our design department. We require a RAID configuration, but not of huge size by todays standards.
Is it possible to put a RAID controller into a Xserve; or do i need to buy a Xserve RAID dedicated machine specifically.
(The reason i ask is that it appears I have to buy a main 'domain' server (Xserve) and raid server (X Serve RAID). Whereas if it was an Intel based machine, i could easily put the RAID onto the main server and only hjave one box and hence save half the cost.)
Thanks
Harry

Hi
I dioscovered you can sue software RAID on an Xserve; but cannot get a RAID controller card into it. For hardware RAID one must use the XRaid box.
