Hi,

Have binded a couple of Macs to our Active Directory domain which means that we can now log into the Macs using our domain credentials, great!
One thing I'm unsure about however is I thought that by doing this it would create a single sign-on environment so that when I wanted to connect to our AFP filserver (Win2K server) it would connect using the logon credentials we have already entered, just like Windows. Instead though the system is promting for a username and password to get onto the server.
Is this normal or am I right to expect not to have to enter my domain credentials again after already entering them at machine login ?

Any ideas ?

Many thanks in advance

I used to run my own 2k3 Server, same as 2k Server. I've always had to log on, or to expect to log on every time you enter the 2k server. That's normal. It's MS Server Security purposes to ask you to enter a password, while the Users name is always "Administrator"...then enter password. This is the same on all MS Servers logons....

I'm not 100% sure of the Mac's. I just know and believe it will always ask you to enter a password to enter the 2k Server.

I hope I've answered your question, if not, perhaps someone could better explain the process with a Mac, or anything...

Peace

Depends. sometimes I can get smb shares to automount wtih kerberos - or shortly after login before the session expires, but generally, yeah I have to log on, as do my 75 users.

I have heard you can map the volumes / drives and then drag them from the desktop to your start up items for each user. whether it keeps the password or not i am not sure.
i just created login scripts with apple script mapping the usernames and passwords to the shares that i wanted. then i placed those scripts to run on each users start up items.

I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
