Hello,

I to tech support for an internet service provider and a customer of mine is having a problem with is mac(I don't really know a lot about mac's so if this is something stupid don't shoot me)

He starts the connection and his modem status is:

idle>

>waiting for termination>

>idle

it doesn't dail, it doesn't do anything but that. I don't know what to do all the settings seemed correct as far as I could tell.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give,
Cody

Cody there are three Control Panels of interest

In the Modem Control Panel the user selects the modem they own, what Port it is on, if it makes noise and tone or pulse, there is a click to ignore dial tone if need be

In the TCP/IP control Panel the user decides how to connect (PPP) How to configure (Using PPP server) A search Domain (your ISP) and some DNS servers by IP address

In the Remote Access or PPP control panel (may be called either, it is the same one) the user types his username@yourISP.com and password as a registered user check save password and enter the phonenumber. there are Protocol options: Connect automatically, Allow Modem Compression and error correction, TCP header compression and a facility to connect to a command line or script at the host.

if you send mail to jimpalmer@cableone.net I would send you jpgs of sample control panels from MacOS 9, which is very similar

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

ok, I've checked all of those except the modem control panel, maybe somehow he's got the wrong one setup in there or something, otherwise all the other settings are correct,

ps. Thanks for the offer but I don't really need the jpgs I have a site I use for settings. it just didn't mention the modem control panel.
