Hi
I might buy a mac, My question do they network good with windows? I have a netowrk laser printer that i wont to use from the mac

Thanks

I always used my Mac onthe windows network at my last company, and I had no knowledge of networking - and the network guys had no knowledge of Mac's!

I just plugged in an RJ45 connection, and it just worked....

I'm sure other people will have more useful / technical advice though!

The question should be [red]Is it worth trying to do?[/red] not [blue] Can it be done?[/blue]

You just have to enable Windows sharing in System Preferences/Sharing/Services and also, under sharing, enable Windows shartinf through the firewall.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

If the printer has a hardware print server (HP JetDirect, etc), you might not even need that. Just set up the printer in your Mac, and point it to the IP address of the print server. It's what I do at home -- I have a Deskjet that is networked via an Axis print server.

chiph is correct, most likely the printer has a ethernet port. All you need to do is configure it with a ip address. Next, on the mac side just setup the printer as Internet IP printer or IPP, specify the ip address of the printer and model.
