Hi

I have two standalone MAC's that i would like to add to my network very quickly.

My only requirements are that they are able to receive a dynamic ip address from the NT server (DHCP)and to have internet connectivity through the network, I would also like them to be able to use the HP printers that are avaliable on the network.

Can anyone give me a few "key" pointers to enable me to narrow down my steep learning curve.

As always, I appreciate your comments and thank you in advance

You will need to install 'Services for Macintosh' on to the NT server. Only the Macs can't see the NT server other wise. You will also need at least one NTFS drive on the server.

Once this is done you should also be able to see the printers if they are sharing, by going to Chooser and selecting Laserwriter 8.

Then on the Mac make sure that Appletalk is set to look at the ethernet card you are using.

Then go to TCP/IP and set to
Connect Via: Ethernet.
Configure: Using DHCP Server

DNS: 000.000.000.000 what every it is.

You might want to also to change to user mode under the edit menu to 'Advanced' this will then give you an options button. Please select and uncheck the option 'Load only when needed'.

Under Info you will find the Hardware address if you need it.

Thanks Matthew

I think I'm on the right track now - ill let you know how it goes.
