I have a G4 which one of my employees was using. He put a password and log name on it and has left the company. I would like to Get into it but cant sice he has been the only one to use it, and I dont know the passcode.

Thanks for any help!

Maybe someone should write a FAQ about this...

Do you have the software/system install disk?

If so, insert in cd/dvd tray and restart holding down the C key. That will start the machine from the install disk. There, you will get the chance to bypass the password.

Just like Windows, employees should never be allowed root access to set passwords. An administrator should have the root password, set up accounts, and assign passwirds to users of the machines

Using OSX 10.3.8 on a G4

How right you are and thanks so much for the help.
buy someone a computer to work for you and they bail and dont tell you what the passwords are. I thought I was going to have to reinstall OSX and loose everything. THanks for the help!
