DSL modems don't get an IP address. The machine gets an IP address from the DSL provider. The modem simply translates the IP traffic to a signal that can be transmitted over the phone line to the DSL provider where it is converted back to IP traffic.

Ok, Then why wouldn't my Netgear wireless router that was working fine yesterday not let me connect to the internet. I took the DSL modem and wired it straight to a PC and it worked Fine. But going though the router it won't connect. I'm stuck.
Yes, 192.168.1.1.... I went back though all the settings and updated the firmware. But for some reason the router only assigns one IP address to all the devices. The IP is 192.168.1.64. I don't understand because, the IP range i have set on the router is .01-.12. So why does it keep assigning this IP address. Please Help!!
I figured it out. The DSL cable was not in the internet port on the router. Now for some reason my print server is getting a odd IP. Oh well i'll figure it out.
