Looking for a Mac file diff/comparison utility.

For years I've used BeyondCompare on Windows, and I'm looking for a functional equivalent on OS X. (Want to tie it into Subversion so I can compare versions of my sourcefiles)

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea what such an app does, but you can look at Versiontracker.com for Mac apps.

Using OSX 10.3.9 & 10.4.11 on a G4, G5 & Intel Macbook

Thanks, I'll go take a look.

A file differencer/comparer will take two text files, and (hopefully) tell you where they differ.

So if you're working on a text document, and you've been saving previous versions, or if a coworker has also modified their copy of the same file, you can compare the two to see where they're different.

Doesn't work on binary files -- it'll just tell you that they're different, because it doesn't have insider knowledge of the structure of the file. This also counts towards word processing files that have been stored as binary (might could work on OOXML files, but you'd have to be *really* knowledgeable about the structure to not make a mess)

Take a look at TextWrangler. It's a free version of BB Edit and does have a comparison feature.

Cheers,

Thanks, I will!

Chip

macs have diff built-in. just use it from the terminal.

aptana studio has a visual diff engine too.

Thanks for the reminder about the command-line diff utility. But I'm looking for a graphical solution.
