When I open an Illustrator file on my Mac OS X from a network share - win 2000 network and then try to save the file I get a adobe pdf error and a mac error -47. In order to save to the shared drive I need to save the file to my desktop and then copy the file to the shared drive and replace the existing file on there. Anyone seen this before....

Any help appreciated

Hi, I have the same problem. The only way that I can save an Illustrator-file into a shared file in our mixed network (where the server uses Windows 2000 and I work in OS X 10.2) is to save the file as EPS. This is really not acceptable. If you have gotten wiser since you wrote your message, please let me in on it.

I am seeing the same problem here. I find that the file can be saved as long as the PDF option is not checked in the save options box. Though it lets me save, it's not the best for my artists who like to see the thumbnails, etc. Has anyone tried illustrator updates?

Solutions: Because this error is caused by the software, there is no solution until Adobe corrects this issue in later software versions. There are, however, two ways to prevent the repetition of this problem.

Adobe’s recommendation is to
1.save the file you want to modify to a local drive (i.e., your hard drive) (screenshot of network share)

2.modify the file

3.save the file to your local drive
move the saved file back to the network share

You can also

1.open your file on the network share (screenshot of network share and of opening file)

2.modify the file

3.go to File, Save As for saving the modified file. This will allow you to keep different versions of your project, making it easier to backtrack if need be. (screenshot of Save As)
