Mac dialing to W2K RAS get authen. fails

I don't have AD implemented, the core of the LAN is still an NT4 domain. My windows clients have no problems dialing in. Only the Apple Macintosh clients (anywhere from OS 9.1 to OS X) can't get authenticated when dialing into the W2K RAS server. Does anyone have any ideas?
