I'm trying to find a way to extract the registered mac address(es) from my dhcp scopes. I want to eventually write a script where I send the machine name and return the mac address and then WOL. Also, I want to retrieve this information on machines that are powered off so ARP isn't going to work for me. I've looked at NETSH but didn't have much luck! Ideas, anybody?

What type of environment is this?

In W2K's dhcp server, one can export a list of dhcp clients and their mac addresses from the MMC. I've found no way to query the DHCP server for this info using WSH or any of MS's management objects. The DHCP database is kept in %systemroot%\system32\dhcp\dhcp.mdb. I've never tried using that.

It's been a while since I've used the ISC DHCP server, but there are a variety of tools to parse its lease file for MAC info.

Oops! Environment is Windows Server 2003 with Active Directory. Thanks.

I found something that will work. This command has to be run on the dhcp server itself. The only problem is that it can only return one scope at a time.

netsh dhcp server scope 10.3.21.0 show client 1
