Can these phones light up message waiting lights if they are running off centrex lines only?

Yes, the light will light as long as your service provider is providing you with the service. Otherwise, you would just get stuttered dial tone upon getting a message

My client just emailed me this after I sent him your reply:

Yes,
I can have a phone with messages & lamping on a desk working fine, plug in
one of your new phones, no lamping but have stutter dial tone.

So he has many phones that are working fine, the two latest phones that he is installing are having the lamping issue. When adding phones. Do you have to notify provider about additions or should they work because the service is already being provided?

You probally need to tell the provider you have lamps on the phone.

I agree with the post above. What happens if he plugs an old phone that is working into the new jack he is trying to get to work?
