Im using a recently purchased Visiontek Geforce3 ti500, My mainboard is a Pcchips M830LR. Everytime I play a game whether it be opengl or directx I get about 5 minutes of play in and suddenly the pc freezes and I hear a huge continuous static noise of some kind. I have tried using older drivers with the card as well as setting the transfer rate to 2x and no go, as well as downloading the latest vxd driver for the board, does anyone know what is causing this? Is there a problem with this mainboard and agp?

I know its not a heat issue as I have decent fans on everything, im wondering if the mainboard may need flashed :/

Do you by chance have an added sound card?
Try it without the card (if you have one) and see if you get the same error.
Creative's drivers (guessing again, here) are sometimes not the easiest to get working right.
We're also taking for granted you have the latest SIS chipset drivers loaded...is that correct?

It turned out to be an issue with running two sticks of 133 ram, everything is going good now after removing one of them. Im not sure about the chipset drivers... could you post a link to them please? Are they on the Pcchips site?

Was the extra stick of ram bad or what? Why would that be the fixer unless it was?

This board is well-known to be manufactured by ECS and some have gone to ECS for support. Comments from others have indicated the main difference in ECS and pcchips boards is the BIOS, so I for sure wouldn't load the ECS BIOS flash. (note: others claim to have done this with no ill effects, but I wouldn't! just me)

Couldn't find the SIS drivers at ECS...but likely you'll find them here:

Skinny is that ECS/pcchips foothold on the world market comes from aggressive OEM supply...and they are likewise able to get by with little or no tech support 'cause the OEM's are able to employ their boards without it.

No the ram is ok, I was amazed to find that it actually fixed the problem. A cool guy on another board suggested it and it worked, he mentioned certain boards have issues with using 2 133 sticks.

My board lists in Sandra as an ECS board so I'll probably skip flashing it for a while to do a bit of searching on it, it runs very good, seems alot smoother than my friends Gigabye board as well (its funny because he is always saying mine is cheap hehe)great board for the price even with the minor issues.

Thanks for the link and the help! it is appreciated.
