Does anyone know if there is a type of equipment or adapter, or a butt set that will allow you to check for dial tone, at the frame or a cable closet, for an M3904 digital phone for the MSL-100 switch, It is very hard to carry a phone everywhere to check for dial tone or when testing a line.

I have never seen one, and that would be like NT not to make one. The SL100 switch has diagnostic tools that can communicate with the digital set, identify the set type and other characteristics. When I use to work on M1 opt 61s, etc. I would listen for a high frequency harmonic on the loop in monitor mode. You can check for battery just like analogue station lines. Just use your imagination when troubleshooting, that's what I do. I never hauled a set around for testing, unless it was a real Murphy challenge. Check your alarm stack - the system reports stuff when it does its midnight routines. You might want to review the stats. They can be very informative, and make service easier!

Many tone and probe kits have a light, which when connected to and active TN, either digital or analog, will give you a green/red light (polarity). Though this is not giving you dial tone per se, it is giving you an indication of connectivity back to the TN and is a great help, built in clips allow you to connect almost anywhere in the path quickly. For the few instances that fall between the cracks, you may be stuck with carrying a phone, but that should be in very few instances if your infrastructure is up to par.
Hope this is helpful.
