I have a M3903 who’s voicemail indicator light comes on but when you check the Meridian Mail mailbox there are no messages. As soon as you check the mailbox the light goes off and stays off. This will happen a few times a day. Sometimes there are messages, sometimes not.
I have checked the Mailbox and no other extension DNs are listed for it. This is the only phone assigned to the DN.
I remember having this issue a long time ago and cannot, for the life of me, remember what I did to fix it.
Any ideas?

Have you checked other mailboxes to see if they are set to light that one up when they get a message.

Don't know if this will help, but have you tried:

LD 11
Type: 3903
ECHG: yes
Item: key 16 nul

We have button 16 programmed to call voicemail (MWK 7000) on all of our 3903s and 3904s

does anyone on site have a mik key?

We had the same problem and I found that it was caused by another mailbox pointing to the DN. Our secretary phones are set up with their attorney DN's on them. When an attorney leaves I deleted their mailbox, but the dn stays on the secretary's phone for 30 days. When a message comes in, Mer Mail will light the message light on the phone where the DN is located. I just removed the dn from the mailbox so that it would not look for an indicator.

We have the same problem with Call Pilot and analog phones, M3903's etc seem to be fine. We never could figure out why but eveytime we delete the box and re-create it the problem went away...

Try searching for another DN on that phone. That is probably the cause. A mailbox is set to light one of the other DNs on that set.

tnphoneman is on the right track.
A mailbox will turn on the message light for any single appearance DN on a set if the Meridian Mail mailbox has that MWI DN.

Thanks, tnphoneman - that was the issue. Thanks to all for their responses as well.

Try using advanced search on MWI for that DN.
You'll probably find some other DN is lighting that lamp.
