M2616 to M3820 without deleting? 1

Hi All,

Is it possible to do a CHG of the DES from M2616 to M3820 without causing mayhem? Key programming is mimimal:
key 0, key 2, key 3, key 4, key 6 & key 8 only (to be retained)
Or is it best to OUT/NEW each TN?

No problem. You can change the DES.

des can also change in ld 85, one of the few things you can not change is type:

You can change change the DES, but to change the SET TYPE you will need to out and rebuild the set.

You don't have to change the set type because a M3820 is programmed a an M2616 without a key 1.
This can be done with an echg just like the DES.

right, both phones program as a 2616. we don't use 3820 on this side of the pond but i ebay'ed one (40 bucks) just to see what we are missing. i'd rather have my 3904, but it's a decent phone

Correct the M3820 was only for the european market.
