The CEO of my company says someone called him to complain that when they called our office this past Saturday they got ring no answer. The console operators all put their consoles in NIT at end of day which points to AA. No Time of Day, nothing, we are happy with the way it works now. But he wants to know if there's any way for me to remotely check whether or not the consoles were physically in NIT last Saturday as opposed to IDLE. I don't think this is possible, but I thought I'd ask the tektips experts. thanks.

Hi,

You can't see in what mode a console is.

You can have a look at the IDC of the route's. Print a route which uses IDC and look at which IDC table is active (The one with the "*").

There is a maintenance patch for some software releases/System options, which will show you when a day/night button is pressed, and in what mode is console is after pressing that button. It will also show you if the switch will go in day or night mode.

If you want to know the patch number please provide your switch type and software release and I will have a look on the Nortel site so your support people can install the patch.

i don't think I understood your response. Are you saying i cannot tell whether console is in NITE or IDLE in LD 80? And this software patch will tell me if the NITE button was activated last Friday? And lastly, if I were to disable, then reenable all the 2250 TNs that would put them in NITE anyway, right?

You cannot see if a console is in Night mode. If you TRAT TN the console it will show you IDLE, unless there is a Call, it will show you BUSY for the key.

With the patch you cannot see what the status was last friday, but you can see the status stating the install date of the patch. You get a message on your terminal and in the history file.

So if the problem happens again you can see the status of the consoles in the history file.

If you disable and enable the TN's of the consoles it will put them in Busy mode (And if all console's are in busy, it will put them in night mode), but you still do not know what the status was before the reset...
