Hello, I am running XP-Pro on a Dell 8200 with 512K RAM.

This machine acts as my server for my music collection and is slow but reliable -- I have several USB peripherals and haven't had a problem installing before.

I bought an M-wave USB-Audiophile external sound card, and I cannot get the it to install.

I get a "Code 10" hardware won't start. I have plugged the device (USB 1.1) directly into the PC, downloaded the most recent driver, etc.

Does Anybody have any ideas?

If other USB devices work ok on that USB port, and you installed it exactly per its instructions, then see if the same problem happens on another system. If so, then the card may be defective.

Unplug all USB devices.[ul]

[li]Click on Start[/li]
[li]Right Click on My Computer, click on Properties[/li]
[li]Click on the Hardware tab[/li]
[li]Click the Device Manager button. [/li]
[li]Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers section.[/li]
[li]Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time. [/li]
[li]Restart the computer, and allow the computer to reinstall the USB controllers. [/li]
[li]Plug in the devices, one at a time, and then view Device Manager to make sure that the issue is resolved. (You can leave Device Manager open for this).[/li][/ul]
