I am still having a problem with M.S PhotoEditor.

I have a user that is trying to open JPG's with this software. When he double clicks on the file, PhotoEditor opens up, but the file does not open. However if you use the "File, Open" function within the software it opens fine.

I have deleted and re-created the file associations 3 times, but to no avail.

Has anyone seen this before? It is driving me nuts.

Thanks,

I have a very similar (maybe same) problem.

User is clicking on jpgs and then claims "nothing" happens. What is acutally happening is that Photo Editor opened MINIMIZED on the taskbar and you must right click on it and choose maximize or restore. How do you change it so that the photo editor opens maximized?

If an application is minimized when it is closed, this setting is the setting it will use when the application is reopened.

To get it to open full screen or windowed rather than minimized on the toolbar, close the application in the proper fashion.

File > Close or File > Exit.

The next time it is reopened, it should open back to the previous window style, full screen or windowed.

Hope this helps....

Okay,

The program is not opening minimized...it opens in a full window, but just does not open the picture...

Hate to say this but it is a known bug in PhotoEditor.

We had the same question around here a while back and I remember someone finding the answer on the MS knowledge base.

Since we're stuck using Office '97 here at work, we have to deal with FILE...OPEN...

Hello mot98,

Using the shortcut way to associate file-type with application to open it by clicking the 'always' checkbox is practical, but not the perfect way of doing file association. And it happens to PhoteEd.

[1] Use you Control Panel and open the Fold Options and then to the File-types page.
[2] Under the File-types window, select the Jpeg or jpg and click out the window showing the Actions associated with it.
[3] As you have associated it already with PhoteEd.exe, the your "Open" action should be the default (bold) setting.
[4] Highlight the "open" and click the Edit to edit its associated action.
[5] In the command line box, append "%1" (including the double-quot) at the end, which should look like:
C:\...\PhoteEdit.exe "%1"
[6] Click all the Ok's.

erratum

Despite all the spelling, I mean Photoed.exe

Thanks tsuji,

That worked great.
