Has anyone had troubles installing the Linksys wmp54g wireless pc card? I have tried on a Win 98 SE pc but it will not find the drivers even after manually telling where to look for the drivers. I have spoken with Linksys tech support and after some troubleshooting they determined the card or software was defective so I had exchanged for a new one. Still having the exact same problem. I tried the same thing on an XP machine with the same results. I installed according to the instruction from Lynksys and still does not find the drivers. Linksys tech support doesn't have any answers for me so I hope someone out there can.

1. Insert the CD and run the installation/setup routine.
2. Then open up the PC and insert the card.

The most common problem is inserting the card and then trying to install the drivers.

Note: new driver set released for wmp54g on 12-8-2003.

shocker1,

You are absolutely right I forgot to include a link to the drivers.

I personally prefer getting the drivers directly from the Linksys FTP site:

ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/befsr41/
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/network/
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/manuals/
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pdf/

The first site contains drivers for the BEFSRxx series, including wireless routers. The second site is where you will find adapter drivers, and the WRTxxx and other series routers and AP drivers. The last two are sources of documentation.

For the brave, there is also:
ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/beta/

The Linksys WMP54G is VERY fussy about what version of PCI slot it is used in. Linksys tell me that it will only work with PCI v2.2.

I haven't been able to find out how yo can tell what the PCI version number is since it doesn't appear to be mentioned in the manuals for any of the MoBos I have tried.

Personally I have given up with this card - sorry . . .
