Hello.
After upgrading from 4.1 to 5.1 on my IBM RS6000 F50 server I get an error when I try to run my backups.

I use the SMIT program.
When I get to the "Backup Volume Groups" I get this error:
"Unable to get LVM Kernel ID!"

I had no problems with the upgrade.
No errors and everything has been running great for two days.
Obviuosly I'm missing something but I have no where to go.
Is SMIT a seperate program that needs to updated too?
TIA!!

smit should have been updated along with the rest of the OS.

Did you get an error code with the message? Have you done an lppchk -v on the system to verify everything was installed correctly? What maintenance level are you at?

Thank you for your response.
I'm sorry but for whatever reason I didn't see it way back in Nov!!
Since then I learned that we had to buy the upgrade to the Tivoli Storage Manager software which I incorrectly was calling "smit".

I didn't want you to think I was being rude by not responding.
