Hello there,

I've been using a genealogical program called Brothers Keeper (version 6.1) for a while now, never any problems.

After installing a new webcam (Creative NX) and un-installing the old one (Logitech QuickCam), I get the following error when trying to use the Edit-option in Brothers Keeper (I dò get the programs' Start-up screen):

"Runtime error '339'"
"Component LTOCX12N.OCX or one of its dependencies not currently registered"
"File is missing or invalid"

I've done the following :
=======================

- un-installed Brothers Keeper
- re-installed Brothers Keeper
- checked if the file is actually òn my computer: it is (in C:\Windows\System32)
- on I found the following advise:

" start... run... type c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 -u ltocx12n.ocx enter
"this will unistall the activex
"type c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 ltocx12n.ocx enter
"this will reinstall the activex

- did that
- restarted my computer

Still: the same problem. On the net, the file ltocx12n.ocx is usually mentioned in combination with ActiveX.

Now :
===

* Could installing the new webcam have anything to do with my problem using Brothers Keeper ? (printer installed within that program)

* Would it work to move the file LTOCX12N.OCX to another location (D: or E:), download and reinstall it ? And is this the way to do that ? :

- Start/Run/c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 ltocx12n.ocx

Any help at all would be most welcome :)

Greetings,

TT

It sounds like you did the right thing to make sure LTOCX12N.OCX got registered. My guess is LTOCX12N.OCX depends on another OCX or DLL file that got deleted when you un-installed the old web cam.

To answer your questions specifically:

* Could installing the new webcam have anything to do with my problem using Brothers Keeper ? (printer installed within that program)

No. But un-installing the old one might have something to do with it. It might have removed a file both the webcam and Brothers Keeper needed.

Try un-installing and then re-installing the new web cam software. If that doesn't work, re-install the old web cam software too.

* Would it work to move the file LTOCX12N.OCX to another location (D: or E:),

It shouldn't hurt, but it shouldn't help either.

download and reinstall it ?

This might help, if the file was damaged. I think it is very unlikely though.

And is this the way to do that ?

Location doesn't matter -- the "regsvr32" program records the file's location, no matter where it is, in the registry. Of course, if you run "regsvr32" but then move the file to another location, it won't work anymore until you run "regsvr32" again to re-register it.
