<Object> embed Snapshot Viewer ActiveX control

I am trying to embed the Microsoft Snapshot Viewer 9.0 ActiveX control into a webpage. I have several hyperlinks that point to a snapshot file. Therefore, the viewer will be needed to view the file.

Have never tried this before and would like to know if the <object> tag is the right place to start? Is is possible for the browser to detect if this particular viewer control is installed on the users machine and if not install it?

Any advice or direction on this question would be appreciated.
