<b>Adobe File-Not Able to Change Document Security</B>

I have Adobe reader 6.0 and just converted a word document to pdf using cutepdf. It converts the file, but I'm unable to change any security settings. I checked out Adobe's site and they say with the reader you do not have the ability to change the security settings. The only thing I want to do is disable printing of 2 documents.

Is there a way to bypass buying the whole product?

You might look for other, cheaper, pdf creation apps that could allow you to set various security settings. I'm only familiar with Acrobat pro so I cannot tell you of any other apps.

Try versiontracker.com, click on the Windows tab and type PDF into the search box.

Thank you! I found the evaluation version of CutePDF which allows me to change security settings.

I notice now that my pdf document - just in some places - the text seems to run together.

Does that make sense?

Check the settings for your new version. They probably just changed some of the ways you set up the output. Usually, as applications "improbe" the give you more gadgets and gilhooleys but make things more complicated.

Also, NEVER try to make a pdf from another pdf. Always use the original source - like Word or whatever.

If you downloaded the new Cute through Versiontracker, go back and look at any user comments about the program. They're on the page for that program. Scroll down. You can also look at any Help with the program or go the the maker's website to check FAQs, etc.
