My Novell 5.1 shows a warning time to time.

The messages is:
SLP UA WARNING: Unable to contact directory agent. Verify DA availability, IP connectivity, DA discovery options and configuration.

My Novell only has SPX protocol.

Does somebody know what can I do?

mailto: femars@hotmail.com

Thank you very much.

Ok, SLP;

SLP is the service location protocol for Netware 5. It is there to discover IP services. You can configure this to use the directory agent, multicast, or DNSDHCP. Since you mentioned that your servers are using IPX only, you may want to consider loading the IP stack as SLP is a core NLM and cannot be unloaded. SLP also encapsulates sap packets, so even though IP may not be loaded, you may be seeing this error because of SLP's encapsulation method with SAP.

If you configure IP, this should get rid of the error, or second, you may want to see if SLP is configured on your network for the Directory Agent, if it is, then I would either a) unconfigure this so it looks at all three, or b)Change your NCP communication so that IPX is used and not IP

Hope this helps.
