I have a LSI 9266-8i pulled from a working decommissioned Cisco c220 M3.

I plugged it into my Lab Sun x4170 and it runs slow. For kicks I plugged it into my desktop PC, MSI i7 x79 mobo, and it runs just as slow.

I downloaded the new firmware "23-34-0-0019_SAS_2208_FW_IMAGE_APP_3-460-115-6465.zip" from LSI and no change.

When I mean slow, I mean when I run SQLIO on my PC that has an older HP P400 512MB controller it gets 47.7MB/s on 4 SAS 10K rpm drives in RAID5 and this LSI 9266-8i in RAID5 on the same 4 SAS 10K rpm, it gets 27.2MB/s.

The battery on the controller is fully charged and the onboard cache is 1GB and is enabled. All carved out RAID spinle sets/LUN's have the cache enabled. The RAID sets/LUN's with SATA SSD's have the cache turned off.
The expectation was that this would get better performance, at least 55MB/s.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thansk
