lsass.exe System Error before loggin

Hello Everyone,
I am experiencing a problem with the lsass service.
When I start my windows xp sp2 laptop I get the following message:
"lsass.exe - System Error Indicates a revision number encountered or specified is not one known by the service. It may be a more recent revision than the service is aware of."
Once I click OK the unit reboots and error comes up again.
I never get to the login screen.
I have been looking around for a fix. But all the results I found so far need to be run from windows, well since i never get to the login screen I can not use those solution.
Any Ideas?
