I presently have 5 SX200ICP Premier systems, all recent installs and one 200EL conversion to 200ICP. In all of the new installs there previously was a Merlin or a TIE or an old 1A2 key system (lots of old junk, I know).

3 sites are reporting problems with delayed cleardown/release of the LS/GS trunks, taking typically as long as 15-20 secs to release before being available to accept or place a new call. 3 other sites the trunks release immediately.

In all 6 locations the trunk circuit descriptor is programmed alike. Also, in all 3 locations experiencing problems the LS/GS trunks are on an LS trunk card in the peripheral bay.

My thinking is this may be a telco configuration issue since it's not occurring universally at all sites. Anyone have any ideas or experience on this?

Thanks!

Cut and paste your Trunk Descriptors. What do you have programmed?

Never mind. We called the local telco and they made a minor change in the way supervision is handled and the problem cleared up. Sorry they wouldn't share the exact specifics, but it was same telco for all sites experiencing the problem and once I explained the problem they were able to correct all three.

There you go. Just goes to prove it's never Mitel's fault - ROCK SOLID SYSTEMS.

Coworker of mine is Nortel-Certified, we acquired him and his Opt 81C and Call Pileup system in a merger a few years ago. Shortly after we did a forklift replacement of the 81C and dropped an SX2K in its place. The guy was pretty sharp so we sent him to Mitel SX2000 and 3300 schools. It's been a couple years since he started cross-training on the Mitel. His only comment today is, "I would have never believed I'd be saying this but after working on both systems I can tell anyone who asks that the Mitel 2K is an outstanding machine that without a doubt blows the 81C away, both in reliability and in simplicity of their very intuitive programming interface."

I started out with Fujitsu (Starlog/Focus) and 1A2.

When my company upgraded to SX2K's it was a revelation - every chronic problem went away, programming and administration was a breeze, and the old UNIX-based OPSMan server had an excellent Tetris game on it :).

Later when I was training SX2K technicians, I was always hearing guys certified on every other conceivable system say how much they liked the front end on the 2K.

Now... just out of curiosity, how many of you keep the covers on the cabinets? Just wondering...

hey I started out on starlog,Jupiter and 1a2 also
back in mid 80's 2 starlogs are still humming away
remember backing up on tape on the epson

I started on 1A2 and TIE and Merlins. All nightmares from a prehistoric era.

POLICY in our shop is for ALL COVERS to be in place with BOTH screws of each cover snugged down.

A better question might be to ask how many of you really follow the manufacturer's cabinet grounding recommendations? We of course do (yes, each cabinet) but I've seen many installations with no cabinet grounds and even 1 installation a few years ago where the ground prong on the power cords had been cut off. Argggh!

Alas, we digress..

well heres a story I had two cocot ici payphones
on the front of a bar on a nantucket right next to each other
one grounded right to mabells original ground stake and the other ungrounded the place took a a direct hit from lightning the ungrounded payphone was fine the grounded was fried to a crisp And I have to honestly say that more of my installs are
ungrounded then grounded .i can see case grounding if you
have ground start lines.
