Does anyone have a utility program or tell me how I can redirect a dos program running in windows 2000 to redirect
the lpt1 port to the usb port.

I have a usb printer connected to pc. But I don't know of a way to redirct "prn" or lpt1 to the usb port.

Yes I know I can hook up an older printer to lpt1 port
but prefer to let user keep new usb printer.

Thanks

A) Share the printer -- you may have to enable file & printer sharing to do so.

B) At a command prompt, type 'NET USE LPT2: \\YOURCOMPUTERNAME\PRINTERSHARENAME' and press enter.

You can substitute other ports for the LPT2. If you want the mapping to stay after you restart your computer, add ' /PERSISTENT:YES' to the end of the command.

easiest way to do it is simply purchase the usb to paralell <sp> I have an older HP Laserjet 6L that is only lpt and bought the cable and actually seems to print faster than before.. simple to do.. literaly plugged and played..
