I aborted installation of my HP 722C print driver from a CD, then uninstalled. Mistake!

I now realize that the driver WAS packaged in 2000, but now I can't seem to perform a proper installation.

I CAN print. However, my Device Manager LPT1 has a question mark next to it and says that it doesn't recognize the hardware attached.

Every time I reboot the OS wants me to perform a new hardware install wizard on the printer.

Under control panel/printers, the printer is listed.

How can i make 2000 stop asking me what's attached to LPT1, and how do I make the ? go away under device manager?

weird...try this:

go into device manager, and expand LPT1 port. Right-click the printer, go to properties, and port settings. check "use any available interrupt", and "enable legacy plug and play".

Reboot, go into BIOS, enable LPT1 in ECP mode and set PnP OS to No, and see what happens.

The BIOS part shouldn't be neccesary, but im curious. :)
If that doesn't work, go back to the lpt1 port in device manager, and just delete the printer or try assigning it a different interrupt and disable it. Then reboot again, and try reinstalling the printer.

Hope that ends up working for you.. pbxman
