On one of our RH 6.0 machines, whenever I use lpr to send a print job (e.g. lpr -Plp1 file.txt), it says "lpr: Connect: Connection refused. Job queued, but couldn't start daemon."
Sure enough, the job is queued in the spool dir with both the cf and df files, but it just won't send to the printer.

It appears that lpr can't connect to lpd to notify it that there are jobs in the spooling area.

any clue on how to resolve this?

We also don't have much luck configuring a print queue to print to a printer connected to a HP JetDirect. Does anyone have any success in this?

thanks for any comment / info .

-al
