I have a printer setup on a DigiPort 4 port Server. It is setup on port 4. I have many printers on this box (> 100). None on this port server. I can ping PortServer no problem.

When I send a print job to this printer I get.

"waiting for queue to be enabled on 32_ps1-Q" in the status file.

Printcap

:32_ps1-Q: :lp=:rm=32_ps1-Q:rp=raw_4:sd=/usr/spool/lpd/32_ps1-Q:mx#0:

Hosts:

192.168.0.100 32_ps1-Qandt

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Br

Have you tried to replace this:
rm=32_ps1-Q
By this ?
rm=32_ps1-Qandt

Hope This Helps, PH.

rm=32_ps1-Qandt < What does this mean? (andt)

Thanks

My stupid fault!!!

"andt" is part of my name "Brandt" My laptop does this all the time!!

Correct Data:

Printcap

:32_ps1-Q: :lp=:rm=32_ps1-Q:rp=raw_4:sd=/usr/spool/lpd/32_ps1-Q:mx#0:

Hosts:

192.168.0.100 32_ps1-Q

My problem is how do I enable the queue?

"waiting for queue to be enabled"

Thanks

Brandt

I'm afraid you have to find some doc about your DigiPort 4 port Server.

this sounds more like an OS then the terminal server. what version of OS you running? I have SCO 5.0.6
to enable a printer queue the command is usually:

enable (printername)

in your case it looks like it might be:

enable 32_ps1-Q

can try that

Dumb question....in your printcap example..
does the entry actually start with a colon?

the other angle is:
I thought the digi portserver was not a print server but a virtual port server that you ran a driver for and then used it as if it was a local device.

digi's ftp server isn't responding this morning and i haven't used these before (lots of digi products just not portservers) so i can't read the manual.......;)
