Has any one seen this error before?

I was trying to work out my printing problem and i must of screwed something up because now when i print I get the following error:

Fatal error - Cannot bind to lpd port '515'

can somebody please help?

or advise me how I can totaly wipe out the printing system and reinstall it to get around my problem?

Shouldn't have to.
Make sure that lpd is running.

I tried restarting lpd and got the following message
"Starting lpd: No Printers Defined [ OK ]

and then when I run ./lpd status and it tells me that
"lpd is stopped"

any ideas?

What does your /etc/printcap file look like??

No printers defined is usually caused by one of two errors. The first is the printer could have been removed from your configuration. The second and more probable cause is there is no default printer set. If you are using lprng, you can use printtool to fix the problem. I haven't used cups in a while but there is a gui for that as well.

I was able to solve my problem it turns out that I had switched from cups to lpd which I now know is a no-no all I had to do was run the chkconfig cups-lpd off command (I have to thank T.W for that tip )

Thank You everybody for your HELP!!!!!!!!!!
