Hi
When our Red Hat server boots up we get the following error
starting lpd (date and time) GET_local_host ‘host32.<our domain>’ bad
This error appeared yesterday (a dev user was doing something), I have looked up lpd and it looks to be a printing service, we don't have any printers on this machine so that is funny, but we do have a network modem (perle) program that sets up serial ports as sort of software modems! so maybe that is where the problem lies. Funny this though is that TELNET has stopped work also, could they be connected (the user contacted me and said that the TELNET had chucked him out, when I went to the machine & rebooted that was when the error came up, I can log into the machine OK, but after the error on bootup it takes an age to finish the boot process.
Any help would be great.
Simon
