I am attempting to add a parralel printer to a existing SGI workstation I use for a file server running IRIX 64 6.5. I just resently replaced an Sun Sparc-station with an Indigo2 as my file server
with the host name of sgi20:
sgi20:previously was the file server for another devision of our company.
the Indigo2 does not print or plot using the devises shown in the /etc/printcap
file as shown below.
#
#
THIS IS the /etc/printcap
hp|a: :lp=:rm=sgi20:rp=hp:sd=/usr/spool/rwc:lf=/usr/adm/plotter-errs:
# end of remote plotter setup on wirtz1

lp|LA|LA-100 or LA120 printer: :lp=:rm=sgi20:rp=lp:sd=/usr/spool/lpd
##
I registered the printer as follows:
/usr/lib/lpshut
mkcentpr lp
/usr/lib/lpadmin -dlp
/usr/lib/lpsched
##
when I use lp command; it errors out:

lp: error - no default destination available

What do I need to do?

I've had no experience with "mkcentpr". You probably need to create a printer with "lpadmin". Does that "/usr/lib/lpadmin -dlp" produce an error? What happens when you run "lpstat -t"?

I just ran /usr/lib/lpadmin -dlp
and
lpstat -t says:
no system default destination
